On July 23, the Hanover Women’s Golf Association 9 Hole League sponsored its Sixth Annual Doggie Days Tournament to benefit the Hanover Humane Society. The event featured 28 players playing in a 9 hole scramble. To emphasize the pet theme, each hole featured pictures of players’ pets: dogs, cats, birds. The Air Force Eagle even sponsored one hole in hopes that someone would score an eagle!
Tournament Chair, Suzanne Harman, worked with John Ellis, Golf Pro at Hanover Country Club, to promote and produce the event. Proceeds yielded $1,240 in donations for the Hanover Humane Society.
Many thanks go to Fin & Feather in Ashland for sponsoring a hole and providing two prizes; to the new Sugar Fix Bakery in Ashland for donating a gift certificate, and to James River Cellars Winery for donating wine for prizes. The winning team of Lanny Turnage, Jennifer McAdoo and Carole Johnson received gift certificates from Homemades by Suzanne!
